Crumpets Nail Tarts Winter Holiday Challenge: Day 5

I took a break on Day 4, basically because of all the stuff going on in Connecticut. So sad. My heart goes out to all the family and friends and townspeople affected by that tragedy.

Today's challenge is Christmas decorations. I have already done a lot of other stuff so I wanted to do something I haven't done yet. I chose holly and berries. I only did that for an accent and did French tips for the rest.

The colors I used are:
Revlon Jaded for the base
China Glaze Glittering Garland, Kleancolor Metallic Red, and Revlon Gold Coin for the tips
China Glaze Glittering Garland and Kleancolor Metallic Red for the holly and berries

Crumpet's Nail Tarts Presents Winter Holiday Challenge: Day 3

Ok today is festival of lights. I didn't have much time to do this as I had my company Christmas party today at work. I did my nails for that which I'll share later. For this challenge day, I did a Robin Moses inspired Christmas lights French tip.

Sorry about the gross cuticle on my thumb. I forgot to put lotion on before the photo was taken.
Also I realized after the fact that Festival of Lights probably had more to do with Hanukkah than it did with actual Christmas lights so I'm sorry if this doesn't go well with some readers.

This is before I mucked it up with the lights.
I'm loving making the candy cane stripes. I've tried to put them on all my holiday nail art.

Which brings me to my work party nails.
See what I mean. Candy cane striping makes everything better :)

Crumpet's Nail Tarts Holiday Challenge: Day 2

Today is day 2 and it is Gingerbread Man and Candy Canes. I used stamps for these.

without flash
The gingerbread men are from Bundle Monster BM-222. It is a full image with a gingerbread man and some holly but I only used the gingerbread man. I stamped him a couple times on each nail.  The polish I used to stamp them is China Glaze Mahogany Magic. Then I just dabbed some red glitter in the open spaces, green polish for the buttons, and black polish for the eyes. The red nails are Sinful  Colors Ruby Ruby. I stamped them with an image from DRK-A and I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Crumpet's Nail Tarts Holiday Challenge: Day 1

Today is the first day of Crumpet's Nail Tarts Winter Holiday Challenge. It is snowflakes and snowfall. Well I didn't know which or what to do so I did both!

This is my snowflakes:
I cut my nails really short recently but I still wanted to wear a funky French. So I used Color Club Nomadic Nude (practically the only nude color I have) and Sally Hansen Insta-dri Brisk Blue for the tips. Then I went over the tips with a sparkly holographic top coat, which I think was just a Love & Beauty no name. Then I stamped a snowflake from my large Jumbo Cheeky stamping plate. I did put a couple of microbeads in the middle of one snowflake just to see how it would look but I didn't like it so there are none on the other nails.

I did snowfall nails too but they ended up looking more like snow drift nails.

I used a dark blue navy again by Love and Beauty. Then I did the saran wrap technique with Sinful Colors Snow Me White. Then used a holographic glitter top coat on top.

Crumpet's Nail Tarts Sat-ART-day

Yesterday was the first December Sat-ART-day in Crumpet's Nail Tarts. That is a nail art facebook group and we get together each Saturday to do some nail art. This is the first time that I am following along with Sat-ART-day but it has been going on for a while now.

The theme for this one is Winter Scarves or Outfits. I don't really own any scarves so I improvised on mine. This is my holiday scarf or maybe an ugly Christmas sweater?

I put down a green base which was Claw Polish Toxic. It is a coffin shaped polish from Halloween. Then I used Sally Hansen Insta-dri Rapid Red to make red stripes. Then I used a stamping plate and I am sorry I don't have the plate number I used. I used Konad Special White but when I put top coat on it, the green bled into the white so it looks a little minty green instead of white.

Thanks for looking and stay tuned because on Dec. 5th I'm starting the Winter Holiday Challenge!

A New Challenge for December

I'm going to be joining Crumpet Nail Tarts Christmas Challenge. It is a winter holiday challenge that happens twice a week until the end of the year. This is the run down:

So excited and can't wait to start. I've already been doing wintery/Christmas nails if you have seen my instagram account.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday. We don't have turkey in my house. I made chicken instead, green bean casserole and rolls. I made a pie but it got burnt. This day is off to a great start. Now I'm working all night. :( Yes there are some people that work on holidays. So I'll be missing all the Black Friday madness (I don't deal with all that anyway, even if I wasn't working). Be safe and kind!

Here's my Thanksgiving mani.

Robin Moses Inspired Nail Art

Hi y'all. I just wanted to check in and do a quick blog post. I've been watching Robin Moses nail art videos on youtube lately. Well I've been watching forever but never actually tried doing any. So I took a shot and tried a few.

The first one I did is cherry blossoms on a white background using this tutorial:

This is my Robin Moses inspired result:
Blah. I wasn't really happy with it. So consider this a fail.

Then I tried the same tutorial but used different colors for a "fall mani". This is how it turned out.
This one looks much nicer and not so blobby as the other one. I love it. Yay!

Then I tried this tutorial, vintage cherries:

This is what mine looked like:
I loved how the cherries turned out and can you believe I did this with my non-dominant right hand (I'm left handed)! They are a lot bigger than the ones in the tutorial but I haven't really mastered any brush strokes yet. I'm very heavy handed when it comes to nail art.

Well I hope you liked my Robin Moses inspired art and go ahead and try some for yourself. She has TONS of tutorials on youtube!

Hearts and Skulls

I was going to wait to show pics of this mani until I had a few more Halloween themed manis to include with it. I wanted do one big  post. I'm having a hard time though removing this, I love it so much! Plus it has lasted for days and has not chipped yet!!

This was inspired by a Betsey Johnson purse I saw at TJ Maxx. It had heart shaped polka-dots with skulls and roses "floating" around. I didn't have room for roses :( but I had room for the skulls. So this is a base of Wet N Wild Black Creme and made hearts with Sally Hansen Raspberry Race. Then stamped the skulls with Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and Mash plate 29 randomly around.

Thanks for looking!

diy: Lace Aviator Sunglasses (from studs and pearls)

I love this idea! This is a post from a craf blog called Studs and Pearls. I love her ideas and in this one she uses nail decals to make her own version of $300 Valentino sunglasses!

Lynnderella Ghost of a Chance and Sation Ego Friendly

I recently purchased a couple Lynnderellas and a couple of the new Sation glitters. Say what you will about Lynnderella, but I really wanted a Ghost of a Chance. So I bought it and I'm glad I did. I love the matte white and pastel glitters!

It has a ton of different shaped glitters. I see square, hex, heart, diamonds, shard...then has a holographic "shimmer". It is so freaking pretty!

I'm wearing two coats on top of Zoya Dove.

Now on to my next purchase, Sation Ego Friendly. I bought some others as well that I'll be sharing with you in the next few days. So this is a clear base with black, white, and bright green SHARD glitter!  There is also tiny specks of green holographic glitter. I wore two coats on top of Sinful Colors Last Chance and Open Seas is my accent.

I don't have macro but here is a bottle shot.

I expected these Sation glitters to stink and be thick and nasty. They aren't! I didn't really have any problem with the formula and I didn't have to fish around for the glitters. I can't wait to show you the rest of my haul!

I bought the Sations from Transdesign and the Lynns from ebay.

Blood Splatter Nails

You've probably seen enough of these but I just wanted to throw my hat into the ring as well. My blood splatter mani: Are you sick of these yet? lol

Colors I used were: base of Color Club Nomadic Nude. I used a Capri Sun straw and dipped it in Sally Hansen Speedy Sunburst and blew the polish across my nails. The lastly I used Wet N Wild Vamp Red (it is from last year's Halloween RIP collection) blown across my nails in the same way. This was fun! It was not as frustrating as I thought it would be. Clean up was being kind of rude because of the dark red, but at least I can say it was intentional I guess....because of Halloween. Makes my nails look bloodier and dirty.

Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Inspired Halloween Mani

I've always wanted to go to Disneyland, especially during Halloween. Every year, they re-decorate the Haunted Mansion ride with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme just for Halloween. So while trolling the internet, I saw this picture on a Disneyland blog called Babes in Disneyland.

I thought these would make cool nail art! Trying my best, I picked a few designs from the boxes and tried making the same designs on my nails.

What do you think? Have you been to Disneyland during Halloween?

Fall Mani Recreation

I've been pretty jealous of all the beautiful fall manis I've been seeing on the web lately. Too bad I can't come up with anything original so I wanted to recreate on. I found a really pretty one on Nail Addict that I really liked. She used colors that I didn't really have so I found some from my stash that were close.

L to R: Sally Hansen 3K or More!, Finger Paints Cop an Attitude, OPI The Show Must Go On!, and Maybelline Bold Gold for stamping.

First I started with two coats of 3K or More! It is a nude base with lots of gold microglitter. It can kind of get dull so once the coats were dry, I added a fast dry top coat. Then I painted a gradient on a make up sponge with Cop an Attidue and The Show Must Go On! I sponged the gradient onto my nails. (Cop an Attitude is a magnetic polish, but I didn't use the magnet, obviously.) Then I stamped leaves from the Bundle Monster BM04.
I really loved the look and got lots of compliments. But OPI has never been a good brand for me. They always chip within hours it seems. So yeah this mani didn't last very long :(

Autumn/Halloween Nails

I'm back and I totally didn't end up finishing the 31 day challenge. It is a shame since I only had a few days left. Oh well. So I thought I would make up for it by showing off some stuff I've done lately. WARNING IT IS PIC HEAVY!

These aren't part of any challenge, but some are in nail art contests on Facebook and Instagram. Also some of the pics were taken spur of the moment. I didn't have plans on blogging about them. So excuse the bad photos in advance.

This is my entry for the bundle monster Halloween contest. I was just going to leave it with the skulls but at the last minute realized they didn't come from a BM plate. lol so I added the barbed wire.

This is Sinful Colors Last Chance topped with Pure Ice Heartbreaker. This photo doesn't do it justice. It sparkles in real life. It looked like I had emerald jewels on my nails.

I was experimenting with needle dragging.

Instagram contest. It is a "monster ikat"

New Halloween China Glaze Cast a Spell and Make a Spectacle

Same mani with stamps.

Another Instagram contest entry for Naildecor. Theme is Sweet and Spooky. It's a married skeleton couple. The middle finger is them holding hands, with a heart in the middle. Cute right? :)

Then this is a franken I made with Revlon Facets of Fuchsia, Orly Mermaid Tale and Orly R.I.P.

It reminded me of Maleficent, the evil queen from Sleeping Beauty. So I added flames.

Well that is pretty much it. Thanks for looking.

31 Day Challenge: Day 28 - Inspired by a Flag

Sorry I'm posting this way late. I just wasn't able to get to my computer today. So today's inspiration comes from a flag. I chose the Japanese flag. It is pretty simple so I did them two ways. As an added note, I chose to do the Japanese flag because I'm half Japanese :)

This is the national flag. Just a red sun symbol on a white background.

This is an interpretation of Japan's military flag, a red sun with rays on a white background.

31 Day Challenge: Day 27 - Inspired by Artwork

Today's inspiration comes from artwork. I love old Japanese prints.

These waves are probably my favorite.

My thumb ended up being my favorite.

31 Day Challenge: Day 26 - Inspired by a Pattern

I'm down to the last stretch and today the inspiration comes from a pattern.

I chose a damask pattern as my inspiration.

I love the classic black and white look of it.

I added black french tips to it. It kind of looks like zebra hooves from a distance. lol

Sorry I'm posting a little late. I tried doing this last night and no matter what I did, it just didn't turn out the way I wanted. I had a few designs in mind. So I just quit and decided to try again in the morning, with something new. I'm glad this worked for me finally!
