Easter Pastel Rainbow Leopard

Today's mani is another using the sponging technique. Since all the colors were different and it wasn't really a gradient, I didn't really like that they didn't "blend" into one another. So I stamped over it with a leopard print and that hid the harsh lines. I will try to make a tutorial of what I did but I've never done that before so it probably won't be that great. I was thinking of making a video. I have a brand new Flip Cam and it is just sitting in my drawer :(

So this is before stamping obviously. This basically what I did:
  1. I used Sinful Colors Star Fish as my base. It is a dusty pink.
  2. Then using a make up sponge, I sponged Sinful Colors Innocent about 3/4 down my nail.
  3. Then Sinful Color Savage was sponged halfway down my nail.
  4. Lastly I sponged Sinful Colors Verbena on the top 1/4 of my nail.
  5. I did this after I took the pic but I topped it all with a Snowman Glitter that is kind of like Wet N Wild Hallucinate

This is stamped with Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris and Bundle Monster BM-221. I topped it off with Seche Vite. It smeared the stamp a little. Otherwise I really like how this turned out. If I do this again, I think I will try sponging the colors diagonally. Thanks for checking this out!

Purple Gradient

Lately I've been pretty bored painting my nails just one color. I'm not that great at nail art as I've mentioned before but I want to step out of my comfort zone a little. Baby steps. So yesterday I tried sponging my tips. Today I tried doing a gradient. I'm still practicing sponging. I think I'm getting the hang of it. It looks OK. I like it but I think I probably could have used more colors. I only used three and the last "dark" one was too sheer so it ended up looking like the middle color. My base is Zoya Marley. The middle color is Zoya Caitlyn and the tips are Sinful Colors Daddy's Girl. These colors were easy to sponge with. I will probably use a much darker color next time on my tips. Maybe even just use black.

Well thanks for looking. Hopefully I'll have something more nicer too look at tomorrow. :)

Pink Wednesday

I'm probably late to the party on this one but I put pink on for Wednesday. Do nail bloggers still do that? lol well today I am. I wanted to do an Effie inspired manicure from the Hunger Games movie. I think she wore more of a purple though. This is Sinful Colors Cream Pink with Revlon Gold Coin sponged on the tips. I love how bright this pink is and I don't care if it isn't a spring color! All though I did feel like I was under dressed as I was wearing a baggy t-shirt and jeans. It looked really great but after a while, the gold started getting a pink tint to it and it almost looked like rose gold. I thought that was really neat.

Catrice Nail Mail

It's been a while since my last post. I've just been lazy. Also my nails had to be filed down because they they kept breaking and my cuticles are ripped and awful. But I had to share what I got in the mail from Jewli, a girl who is in my facebook group. I got three Catrice and these are my first Catrice, which is a European brand.

The first one I'll show you is Dirty Berry. Dirty Berry is a lilac color with a very subtle scattered holo. It's barely noticeable unless you look real close. It love it.  And the name is fun too :)
Dirty Berry

The next one is Genius in the Bottle. This one some might describe as a dupe for Chanel Peridot. It is pretty close. The duo chrome was hard for me to photograph but it is a cool gold/green shift.
Genius in the Bottle

The last one is After Eight. It is a dark blue green. I was hoping this would be a dupe to one of my favorite colors that has been discontinued now, Wet N Wild Morbid. It is almost a dupe. Morbid is just a tad bit darker and has a bit of a metallic look to it. But close enough for me. I really needed a back up and this bottle is much bigger than the little WNW color craze bottles.
After Eight

On a side note, my daughter and I went to go see the Hunger Games last night. Who else went to see it? We loved it!  My daughter dressed up like Katniss, braided her hair to the side, and even did her nails. She's 11 and does her own nail art. I wish I took a picture, they came out great. They were painted black and she took a glittery red striper and glittery gold striper and made flames. And SPOILER ALERT!! Katniss doesn't even have her nails done in the movie! I really wanted to see how they would do it since it was mentioned in the book a few times. But oh well, it can't all be true to the book I guess. Effie had some cool nails though.

This is her dressed up as Katniss. Yes it is a bad picture. It is hard to make out but her hair is braided and she's wearing the Mockingjay pin. This is her jacket and we bought it last year but it looked like Katniss' tribute jacket. She also has her leather boots on. She's such a fan girl. LOL

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

St. Patrick's Day Frankens & Mani

Hope everyone is having a great St. Patrick's Day! Anyone wake up at 6am to go drink some green beer? I'm not a drinker and it is raining cats and dogs here in coastal CA. I just want to sleep all day.

I don't even have anything green to wear except nail polish. I really wanted to do a green water marble but I tried about 10 times and failed about 10 times. So I just made some frankens. One is a dark green holo. I used a-england Dragon as my inspiration. The other franken was inspired by Cult Nails Toxic Seaweed. Yes I tried to make a glittery green polish with flakes. I like the way it came out but it doesn't necessarily kill my lemmings for Dragon or Toxic Seaweed.

Bottle shots. Glittery Flakie on left, holo green on right
Glitter accent nail. The other fingers are holo. The holo was hard to capture with indoor lighting but it is there. It showed up better in the bottle.

Well thanks for looking. Have a safe and happy St. Pat's day!

Venus & Olay Razor

Today I'm going to post a review on the new Venus & Olay Razor from Gillette. I received this product complimentary to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program. All my opinions are my personal opinions and I was not paid in anyway.

The razor kit I received.
The Gillette Venus & Olay Product Details:
  • Venus’ five-bladed razors shave you close and adjust to women’s curves for a smooth and comfortable shave, even over tricky shaving areas like knees and ankles.
  • Olay Moisture Bars contain skin-enhancing elements found in Olay products: Petrolatum helps lock in skin’s moisture for less dryness and Glycerin helps offer that goddess glow! Just wet the razor to release a light lather – no separate shave cream required.
  • As with most Venus razors, new Venus & Olay also features a rounded, pivoting head designed for women’s curves, and a soft-grip ergonomic handle for confident control, even in wet and soapy environment
 My thoughts after 2 uses:
I was able to get a very close shave and maneuver over the "tricky shaving areas" just fine. I didn't get any knicks or cuts. I like the design also of the pivoting head. It does make using the razor a lot easier and the soft-grip handle is nice too. I used it in the shower, without any shaving cream or gel. I never dropped it or lost any control over the razor.  The Olay Moisture Bars are excellent. All you have to do is just run it under the water a bit to get them wet and start shaving. The only problem I find is that the moisture bars do tend to wear down pretty fast. Maybe because I was using in the shower and the constant water going over them was wearing the bars down faster?  I love the way it smelled and the way my legs felt afterwards. My skin was soft and smooth and very moisturized. I didn't even need to put any lotion on. I love all the Venus razors but this is definitely one of my favorites.

Where to Buy
A refillable Venus & Olay with one replacement cartridge sells for approximately $8.99-$10.99. Packages of three replacement cartridges are available for about $14.99 - $19.49.
Venus & Olay will be available starting March 15, 2012 at food, drug, convenience and mass merchandise stores throughout the United States.

Not Polish Related: Opening of Love VoxBox

Today I got my VoxBox from Influenster.com. This is my first box of samples and I love this box! Sorry if it drags on. There were some great things in this box!

Opening of the box!
First thing I got was a box of Stash Herbal Tea. It was a 9 flavor sampler. I love green tea by Stash but these are new flavors. The flavors in this box is Acai Berry, Blueberry Superfruit, Chamomile, Cinnamon Apple Chamomile, Lemon Ginger, Licorice Spice, Mango Passionfruit, Peppermint, and Wild Raspberry Hibiscus. I have tasted the Lemon Ginger already since I'm battling with a sore throat. It is very good with some honey. I can't wait to try the other flavors.

Venus Razor!
I got a new Gillette Venus Razor. Venus razors are my favorite. I've already used it. The moisture bars are made with Olay. It smells good and is very moisturizing. My only complaint is that the moisture bars wear down pretty quick. I only used it once and the bars are pretty much gone. The razors are still good though.

Nail decals

Nail Dress by Kiss. These are cute. I have Sally Hansen ones that are the exact same design. I can't wait to see how these hold up.

Truvia Sweetener packs. I have not tried yet.

Ghiradelli Chocolates w/ a Coupon
Yes the chocolate is already gone and it was soooo good. Ghiradelli is awesome!
