PCF Summer Challenge: Sunshine

This day's theme is Sunshine. This looks like sunshine, right? I did a needle drag. The base is Wet N Wild French White. Then I put stripes diagonally across. I used Sinful Colors Firefly and Oh La La. The other yellow I used was Color Club Volt of Light. Then I took a needle and dragged it through the colors to make the "rays". I did this all quick before the polish dried. I don't know what was going on with my index and middle finger. The colors kept bleeding into each other. Probably the stripes were too thick. I think my ring finger is perfect, I wanted them all to look like that. Sorry I didn't notice how sloppy this was until  I was editing the photo.

This is only the second time I've done a needle drag and I really like it. I might have to do it more often for the summer. I have tried water marbling several times and have never gotten a result I felt good enough showing. I'm dreading the day when that challenge comes. Haha but I'll try and give it a shot.

PCF Summer Challenge: Summer Sunrise

Today is day 6 of the PCF Summer Challenge. The theme is Summer Sunrise. I almost skipped this day because I'm not in a gradient mood. At least not in the mood to do the common sunset/sunrise colors. For this, I wanted it to look like a sandy beach, the ocean, and then the sunrise on the horizon. Not sure if I am feeling it though. I just wanted to try something different. The bottom color is China Glaze Fast Track for the "sand". The "ocean" is Jessie's Girl Mermaid's Lagoon. The sunrise is Color Club Tangerine Cream.

Thanks for looking! Please visit the others for some awesome nail art!

MSMD Monday: Hearts and Black French Tips

It is Monkey See Monkey Do Monday! Happy Memorial Day too! Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays are where we re-create manis from different blogs or pictures we have "pinned" on Pinterest, and link back to the original blogger.

This week, my inspiration came from Enamel Girl. I used all black in my design. She wrote that she used a navy blue and I don't really have a good stamping polish in that color. So the base is RBL Poco a Poco and the black tips and stamping were done with an image from the DRK-A plate and Cult Nails Nevermore. This new black of theirs is awesome for stamping, or just wearing on its own. It is a one coat black and so shiny, no top coat needed really! I hope they keep it in their core collection because I think I might need to get a back up.

Does anyone have any tips for not smearing the design by putting top coat? I waited about 5 minutes for this to dry before I put top coat and it still smeared. I used the Color Club 0-60 Top coat because I heard that doesn't smear designs but it clearly did, for me anyway.

PCF Summer Challenge: Your Favourite Summer Color

I have found a new love for neon colors. I do kind of hate the semi-matte finish of them though. The colors are fabulous. Thank goodness for top coat! My new favorite summer color is hot pink. The one I love in my collection is by Love & Beauty Hot Pink/Coral that I found at Forever 21 for less than $3. The color isn't very accurate in the picture. If you have seen pink highlighter pens, it is more like that.

I tried to do kind of a Harlequin design. I used a black striper and made black triangular shapes at the bottom of my nails. When that was dried, I stuck on these diamond stud nail stickers that I found at Wal-Mart. They're made by Kiss. The stickers stay on pretty well but I still put on a top coat.

I hope you liked this. Thanks for reading, and please visit the other blogs participating in the summer challenge! Smile, it is a three day weekend (for those in the US)!

PCF Summer Challenge: Day 4 - Orange Freestyle Day

I don't have a lot of orange nail polishes. I had planned on doing some kind of gradient or ombre manicure but all the oranges I own are way too similar to each other. Bah. So I actually decided to use some novelty polishes from Halloween.

The base color is Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin. I stamped orange slices from Bundle Monster BM04 with Konad Special Polish White. On my index finger, I made an accent nail. It is subtle but I layered a coat of Del Sol Trick-Or-Treat. Trick-or-Treat is an orange and gold glitter that turns black in the sunlight.

You can see it start to change in this pic. I just put a thin layer on so it isn't a dramatic change. If I used another layer it would be black but the orange and gold glitter still shines through. It is really cool.

PCF Summer Challenge Day 3: Summer Dots

Summer dots made me think of Dippin' Dots. I tried to make this look like the weird ice cream pellets but I think it looks like a clown threw up on my nails. Heheh they can't all be winners.

I used a dotting tool in different sizes dipped in different colors. The base is Wet N Wild French White. For the dots, I grabbed whatever was close by. I think I used China Glaze Riveting, Sinful Colors Dressed to Kill (which is the bottle I'm holding), Wet N Wild Sunny Side Up, Revlon Gold Coin, and Sally Hansen Fairy Teal

Please don't forget to check out the other blogs doing the challenge!

PCF Summer Challenge: Day 2 - Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show is a garden show held for five days in May by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in Chelsea, London. The show is the most famous flower show in the United Kingdom, perhaps the world attracting visitors from all over the world. (That's from the Wikipedia site lol)

This means today is a flower mani!

The base color is Revlon Jaded. The pink flowers are Sally Hansen Insta-dri Raspberry Race. The stamp is Bundle Monster BM-221.

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Koi Pond

So as part of being in the Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge, there is Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays. Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays are where we re-create manis from different blogs or pictures we have "pinned" on Pinterest, and link back to the original blogger. I found this nail art recently in my reader and it comes from Mr. Candiipants. This is my inspiration:

I love koi and this looked simple enough that even I, someone who hardly does any freehand art, could do. It ain't the greatest but I'm pretty darn proud of it. This goes beyond my comfort zone and I'm glad I was able to at least try doing this. I think my koi are short and chubby but they are really cute that way :)

The base color is Sinful Colors Be Happy. The white is Sinful Colors Snow Me White. The orange is OPI A Roll in the Hague. The black is Wet N Wild Black Creme. The bubbles are stamped with Snow Me White and the plate is Cheeky CH9.

PCF Summer Challenge: Olympic Torch Starts Its Journey

Today is the first day of the summer challenge!  I did a painfully simple design. I did a base of Revlon Gold Coin and used Wet n Wild Black Creme to stamp the dots with Cheeky CH6. This is my interpretation of the 2012 Olympic Torch.  Its journey starts today in the UK! This year's torch is gold with 8,000 perforations that symbolize the 8,000 (!) torchbearers participating in the torch relay. It will travel through more than 1,000 cities and towns throughout the UK for 70 days.

Purple Crumpet Fairy Summer Nail Art Challenge

I joined nail polish group on Facebook and tomorrow starts a Summer Challenge. I wanted to join in! This blog has not been a priority for me lately. So hopefully this gives me a jump start to start posting things again. I'm pretty horrible at keeping up with Challenges but taking a look at this one, it isn't daily so it shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks for reading! Can't wait to start!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I posted this on my instagram but wanted to post about it on my blog too! I don't do nail art that much, mainly because I stink at it. I came up with something easy for today, which is Cinco de Mayo! For us Americans, it is basically another drinking holiday. My husband, who is Mexican, would like to make sure everyone knows that it is not Mexican Independence Day. That is on September 16th!

Anyway back to the point...do you recognize the design? It is a little plain. I wanted to stamp a crown on it but the only crown image I have is too big for my overall design. Still need a hint?

It is a bottle of cerveza. Corona beer! The yellow base is Sinful Colors Firefly. The glitters is a franken I made. It represents the colors of the Mexican Flag: red, white, and green. The white is Sinful Colors Snow Me White, and the blue is Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue.

Thanks for looking and have a safe and wonderful weekend!
