31 Day Challenge: Day 28 - Inspired by a Flag

Sorry I'm posting this way late. I just wasn't able to get to my computer today. So today's inspiration comes from a flag. I chose the Japanese flag. It is pretty simple so I did them two ways. As an added note, I chose to do the Japanese flag because I'm half Japanese :)

This is the national flag. Just a red sun symbol on a white background.

This is an interpretation of Japan's military flag, a red sun with rays on a white background.

31 Day Challenge: Day 27 - Inspired by Artwork

Today's inspiration comes from artwork. I love old Japanese prints.

These waves are probably my favorite.

My thumb ended up being my favorite.

31 Day Challenge: Day 26 - Inspired by a Pattern

I'm down to the last stretch and today the inspiration comes from a pattern.

I chose a damask pattern as my inspiration.

I love the classic black and white look of it.

I added black french tips to it. It kind of looks like zebra hooves from a distance. lol

Sorry I'm posting a little late. I tried doing this last night and no matter what I did, it just didn't turn out the way I wanted. I had a few designs in mind. So I just quit and decided to try again in the morning, with something new. I'm glad this worked for me finally!

31 Day Challenge: Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

These last few days of the challenge are going to be hard. It is going to require a lot of creativity and I just don't have much.
Today the challenge is inspired by fashion. I don't know anything about fashion. I'm a child of the 80's and 90's.
I spent my high school years listening to grunge and worshiping Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. My fashion was ripped jeans, plaid flannel shirts, Doc Martens, and a leather Motorcycle jacket.

So this is my inspiration, a leather jacket. I wanted something plain and simple.

This is China Glaze Stone Cold from the Hunger Games Collection. I stamped a zipper design from Bundle Monster BM-202 using Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. Then I added some silver nail art studs. They are actually 3d stickers by Kiss. Lucky for me they had a sticky back and I didn't have to use top coat. I really wanted to keep the look matte.

Thanks for looking.

31 Day Challenge: Day 24 - Inspired by a Book

The latest book I picked up and have been meaning to read is Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris. It is the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel.

I haven't read it yet so no spoilers please! I just did the artwork from the book cover, since I don't know whats going on in the book yet.

I tried to do that cool thing where the art kind of continues down onto another nail.

It is hard to tell but there is a pink/purple gradient, just like on the book cover. This is supposed to be Sookie hanging upside-down with her hair dangling down. Then there are these papers floating around her that are on fire (on the book cover) so I used a red/white/black glitter on the other nails.

31 Day Challenge: Day 23 - Inspired by a Movie

Today the inspiration of this mani is from one of my most favorite movies EVAHH!

It's from the 80's and it is not Superman.

Can you tell this is from the Goonies? One-Eyed Willy, a pirate ship, hidden treasure, Sloth and Chunk.

Truffle Shuffle!

lol I had to try.

31 Day Challenge: Day 22 - Inspired By A Song

Today's inspiration is from a Gwen Stefani song.

cause I ain't no hollaback girl...
OK this song is a little annoying. When I got the new Cheeky plates and saw the bananas, this song is the first thing that came into my head.  And now it is stuck there forever. lol.

On my thumb, it is supposed to be an interpretation of what Gwen is wearing in the beginning of the video. She's got on a white tank top and some pink and black straps are peeking through. My index finger is a metallic gold, for the marching brass band. Middle finger is the drum majorette uniform she's wearing in the video. Ring finger is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Then the pinky is a cheerleader's uniform.

Check out the video!

Hope you liked it. Thanks for reading. Check out the other bloggers doing the challenge with me.

31 Day Challenge: Day 21 - Color

Today is my attempt at a braid pattern. Since it should be inspired by a color, I chose blue.

In hindsight I probably should have used a different color, only because clean up was a bitch! I used Color Club Lumin-Icenet (light blue foil), Wet N Wild Blue Moon (dark blue), and Color Club New Bohemian.

I'll probably do this again. Maybe using tape so my lines are cleaner and straighter. I just did this quickly and freehand.

31 Day Challenge: Day 20 - Water Marble

Water marble day. Ok I admit I cheated. I didn't even bother trying to do a real water marble. I've said in the past, they give me anxiety. Just thinking of taping my nails, choosing the colors, making a design, then dipping my nails in, hoping that the marble design doesn't smear or have bubbles when I lift my fingers up out of the water....{sorry about the run on sentence} just gives me heart palpitations just thinking about it.

So this is how I cheated.  The new Bundle Monster set actually has a water marble image!
I used a stamp from Bundle Monster BM320. I stamped with two colors, Sally Hanson Brisk Blue and Mint Sprint.

I stamped it on top of a glitter sandwich. So I thought the colors would tie in to the glitters I used. This is so NOT an autumn mani. LOL

So it is just a white base, then a layer of NYX Enchanted Forest and a blue and purple Pumpkin glitter. Then I topped it with Sally Hansen Vanilla Bean

31 Day Challenge: Day 19 - Galaxy Nails

Galaxy nails...This is only the second time I've tried doing this.

The base is Deborah Lippmann Dancing in the Sheets. Then I used a coat of Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor.

I sponged on some random colors and placed random dots. This was pretty easy.

I'm still not sure if I'll be posting tomorrow. Water marbling stresses me out. Maybe I'll post even if I fail. Maybe.
:)

31 Day Challenge: Day 18 - Half Moons

I'm on day 18 now! Today is half moons. I had fun with this! Excuse my dry cuticles. lol

It's pirate themed half moons!
I love the way this turned out. I used Urban Outfitters Virgin as my base.

Then I used the paper reinforcement labels to make the half moons. I stamped the full image from Cheeky CH49 using Wet N Wild Black Creme. I recently bought the XL stamper. I'm still getting used to it. It is really squishy so I think I smeared it a bit on my middle finger.

What do you think? Thanks for looking.

31 Day Challenge: Day 17 - Glitter

I'm on Day 17 of this challenge and today's challenge is glitter.

This is Rainbow Honey a little kindness on top of two coats Love & Beauty Light Yellow. I bought this yellow just to wear under this glitter. I know in the beginning of the challenge I said I hate yellow but I'm starting to think differently now.

There is pink, white, green and I think maybe even gold glitter in a clear base. What I love about this glitter though is the pink/purple shifty shimmer that it is packed with.

You can see the shimmer a little better here. This is pretty awesome.

And just to show how pretty the yellow is by itself.

Thanks for looking and be sure to see the other bloggers doing the challenge as well!

31 Day Challenge: Day 16 - Tribal Print

 It is tribal print day.

I did a different design on each nail but I used the same four colors throughout the designs.

I started with a base of Color Club Nomadic Nude. The blue is Sinful Colors Grecian Sun. White is Sinful Colors Snow Me White and the black is Wet N Wild Black Creme

I only ended up doing it on one hand. Haha! I didn't even want to try using my non dominant hand to make all those lines. Thanks for reading.
